Well, I changed my mind. That is what is so wonderful about blogging.
I was thinking today about the Name Brand dilemma, or isn't it? Do you purchase/wear name brand shirts, shoes, and other interesting items? Is there anything wrong with buying and wearing name brand clothes? I wear some that have been given to me but I would never spend money on shirts. Now I would spend money on shoes, Nike to be exact. Can you be a Christian and support name brand products by purchasing there things?

Yes. If I buy name brand items, it's for their quality, not for their status. It's not worth the extra expense, when you can get a cheaper brand that will last almost as long, sometimes. I'm one to stand on my own as far as 'status quo' goes. I do things for the practicality of it, not for looks' sake, most of the time. It's a hard decision sometimes, cuz name brand items have a major appeal over generic sometimes, but lack of extra spending money helps make the decision for you sometimes.
Make sense?

So, it doesn't bother you or you have never thought about the image it could portray to other people? I puzzle over that at times.....
Yes, I think about it. If you mean the image name brand items portray. Though good stewardship usually wins over. I'm not sure if it's because we're tight on money, or if it's because I was raised that way, and am used to it. ?When we were dating, Vern exchanged a Tommy Hilfiger shirt he bought, and bought two St. John's Bay shirts for the same price as that one instead, because it was better stewardship for his money, and yes, his pride might've taken a fall, because he didn't have that logo showing on his shirt and that just shows status, right?, but no one was any the wiser, for not having known about it from the start, and he had the knowledge that he'd done a better money-management job that time.
It's way too easy to get something because of how it looks and because of the response you know it'll bring from others........though my husband will testify that I'm more for comfort than looks, more times than not, but within reason!
Okay, I'm proving once again that I'm related to Truthseeker!

It has been a while since I have visited your blog, but now that the book is finished and published, I find I have more time to go visiting.
I enjoy your unique slant on things.

That is a kind way to put it, a unique slant, I like that.....
LOL
Well, Someone in wal-mart that you don't know will see you wearing Tommy Hilfeger (sp) and then they will associate you/me with him and his lifestyle. Is that a good thing?
I personally don't think of people or lifestyles when I think namebrands, but I see where you're coming from. I suppose I don't struggle with it as much as guys do. I go for quality and comfort rather than namebrand. Sure, it should look nice, but it doesn't have to be namebrand to look nice. Now for tennis shoes I prefer a certain brand (Skechers) for the style it carries and for the comfort, but otherwise I'm not too picky about names. I don't particularly like to wear jackets or pullovers with big letters written all over the front, anyway! =D

If a name brand clothing tends to become a "fad" I usually try to avoid wearing them out of shear stubborness. My attitude tends to be "I ain't gonna let the world tell me what I have to wear to be cool" etc. Maybe thats the wrong way to approach it. Any thoughts?
Cretora, if you're saying your husband is 6' 3", and wears a size 15, I'm with you! My husband is the same height, with a 13/14 shoe, depending on the type of shoe.....it IS difficult to find decent shoes, though it seems more stores have bigger sizes now, but alas, the cheaper brands definitely DO NOT last as long......Does your husband also wear 36/37 sleeves? That can be a trial to find the right combo of neck and sleeve size for us, sometimes..........
Glen, how tall are you, if I may ask?
~Lez
Well, the last time I checked I was somewhere around 6 - 6'1. Also, Cretora, I don't know if I have a view as much as I have a question concerning the name brand issue. I appreciate peoples thoughts.
Cretora, I certainly see what you mean about the stores!!

I have wore some Osh Kosh on my children, I never once thought about the B'Gosh part as swearing!! Is that really what B'gosh means?
I think we need to wise and careful in what we wear, but I also think that like the Bible says that unto the pure all things are pure..
