Appliances
I am wondering what brand of appliances you think are the best. Maytag, Hot Point, GE, Frigidaire, or a different brand. We were told this evening that Maytag appliances are junk. What is your opinion?

I like Whirlpool dishwasher, like the basket in the door for the silverware and like the way they work. I had good luck also with Majic Chef washer and dryer, or was it Kitchen Aid? Anyhow, sounds crazy for washer but it was one or the other...it's in Michigan, I am in FL, in case you didn't remember. And lets see, Amana is very good, very expensive, but American Made!!! Have you ever had the freezer on the bottom and fridge on top? That is wonderful...unless you go with a side by side. I love mine!! Oh ya, that is a GE. So whats the best? WHo knows!? Do you do a comsumer report check?
Whirlpool has always been pretty good to me...Sears Kenmore (made by Whirlpool to Sears' specs are also reputed to be good. I bought a Bosch dishwasher - more expensive, but very quiet and does a great job; three years and no complaints yet. I agree with Norma; checking with Consumer Reports would be a good idea.
So you like the freezer on the bottom and fridge on the top, Norma? Is that how your FL fridge is? Can't remember. I thought about that, but every one I looked at like that just had one big basket down in the freezer. I didn't like that. Feels like I would always be digging through that huge basket looking for what I need. But maybe I should try it. Rachel
Well I just like the eye level fridge. Like how many times a day do you get something out of the fridge compared to the freezer? Might as well bend over for the freezer once or twice a day. Nope I don't have that here, but Maxine does and I remembered how much I liked mine years ago. I had a big basket, it was ok, but I understand, Hers has two roll out shelves, much nicer, so keep looking. Hers is an Amana. I do think the bottom freezer ones are a bit more expensive, not sure. But if you have room for a side by side, I would go for that, you have the fridge eye level and just have your drawers on the bottom. Plus the advantage of having the water and ice in the door is wonderful. I love mine, plus opening the doors you don't need a ton of space...just love mine in Michigan!!
