Computer Games

I am wondering how often computer games are played in your household. Do you as a parent allow your children to play them? How much are they allowed to play. Do you consider them a terrible waste of time? How do you decide whether a game is worth playing? How many hours/minutes do you. the parent, spend playing computer games? This question would also be for those of you who are not parents but spend time on the computer.
I may narrow this down some in a follow up post.

I would feel like computer games are a waste of time in most cases. However, if I were going to play games on the computer it would have to be internet based games like chess, checkers, or rook. I have played all of these against real people online but it has been a long time ago. One rule in our house for the kids is "no computer games until all homework is done". As far as spending time on the computer, I don't see much difference in doing that than what some people do in time reading books. Of course I assume the books being read are wholesome or not offensive to our values. There are a few things I couldn't imagine doing without anymore. Let me list a few here:
1. Paying bills online.
2. Checking weather online.
3. I use Bible commentaries online.
4. Researching products online before a major purchase.
5. I listen to classical chorale music online. (some XM radio stations are free online.)
6. I do the estimating/invoicing for my buisness on my PC.
7. I like to keep up with friends and family via email and blogs.
8. We like to manage and work with family pictures and videos on the PC.
9. If I am home over lunch I can watch Rush do his show live on the ditto cam! Yes, I am a 24/7 subscriber.
I guess this got kinda long lol!
Sorry
