School Memory

I was asked tonight if I would share a school memory Sunday evening at church. I have a couple things rolling around in my mind. I want to know what you remember about school. How did your teachers impact your life? Is one their one memory that sticks in your mind? Of course we are talking about positive memories not negative ones.

I remember my senior year speech class and I gave a speech on Conscious Objectors. THe VietNam war was in full progress and every person in the class, including the teacher hit me up bad. THe next day he apologized and said even if he didn't agree with me he should not have acted like he did! It was a good experience for me no matter what because I stood up for what I believed. Tough to do in a public school and about the only Mennonite family there to boot. Oh dear, that ages me doesn't it? I also remember having to sit under my first grade teachers desk...because I talked too much. Bet you have a hard time believing that!!!

I had a wonderful high school teacher who taught me to do my best. He has influnced my life greatly. I don't believe I'd have courage to move ahead with my dream if it wouldn't have been for what He contributed to my final year in school. I remeber our chats...They would inspire me. Thanks, Mr. Zehr!
