Instruments

Is there a place for musical instruments? Is there a place for instruments in our church services? If we cannot use them in our services should we be allowed to use/have them in our homes? Should we spend money and time learning how to play an instrument that we will not use in a worship service?
After you make lots of comments I will post my opinion. Maybe your comments will change my opinion.

As a pianist I feel I should add my 10 cents off.

I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with instruments, whether in church or at home or otherwise. I really don't think they would be an asset to our church singing, though.

If I had to play the piano in church, I think I would get even less out of the songs than I do now. The big temptation would be to turn every song into a performance. That is a temptation already and I don't want to make it worse.

Ditto on Darin's comment. Plus, I don't think that I would be able to think or express myself very well without them - I do a lot of these two things while at the piano or playing violin.
