Is there a difference between attending a sporting event and attending a contemporary christian music concert? If so, what is it?

Hmmm...maybe the fact that there are no winners or losers in concerts. ;o) And it's just not compelling to memorize useless stats factoids, ie. how many Dove Awards someone has won...thus, the avoidance of putting someone on that famed pedestal.

So, IM[ntb]HO, I think concerts definitely shake out as approved fun, as long as they don't become hobby-forming. ;o) ;o) Of course, it all depends on the genre: if it's a tossup between a game and SG, go with the sports. :D

i like southern gospel...true singers unlike most CCM...

a possible difference...i hope there is at least some overt spiritual component to a CCM concert...whereas unless you do LU you probably will not find at most sporting events

BTW i also like some CCM though many can't sing very well

Glen, I'm guessing the question arises from our church decision about Sporting Events. I'm not sure what my answer would be since I've no desire to go to either. But I have wondered a little about Classical concerts.

On the other hand, why are we so quick to justify our action by somebody else's or at least feel miffed when what we want to do is vetoed and what they do is not?

Well, Darin I don't know if that is the real question all though I am sure it plays a part in my reaction. I am asking an honest question and wanted an honest answer, Is there a difference. I don't think so. Now, how this fits into church, I am unsure, in fact it doesn't because I must be about the only that feels that way....
Plus it generated some discussion.
